How to Reduce the Impact of Soda on Your Teeth

Have you ever decided that you’re going to cut soda from your diet? If you have, what were your motivations? Did you decide that you’re interested in enjoying a better lifestyle? Would you be surprised to learn that cutting soda from your diet could also benefit your oral health?

Unfortunately, people are drinking more soda than ever before. Similarly, drinking soda can affect people regardless of their age. You see, this is because of your enamel—which is the outer layer of your teeth. This tooth enamel can be worn down by the acid in soda. If your tooth loses its enamel, that tooth will be more vulnerable to tooth decay and cavities. Sadly, once you lose your enamel, you won’t be able to get it back.

If you have a hard time giving up soda, there are a number of things you can consider doing. For example, after you drink a soda, we recommend rinsing your mouth out with water. You can also replace sodas with other drinks you might enjoy, including tea, seltzer water, pure juices, and kombucha. However, you should not try to replace soda with sports drinks because they cause a number of the same issues.
